"I wish I knew what the right choice is," my words cried from my battered heart. "It's the one you choose," my hero replied. I wish I could show you the right way to heal from domestic violence, but I can't. I can, show you a doorway. A doorway that made my way, to my happy ending. Martial arts, the first true love of my heart. I didn't want to sit in therapy, just talking about my PTSD, my nightmares, and my memories. I wanted to do something, so I did. I punched, I kicked, I armbarred, I triangled, and I choked the life out of my history. In the light of a new day, I pushed my past PTSD away. In the light of truth, the shadows of my nightmares faded. In the light of change, I made better memories. Spoiler alert: it worked.
