Woods worked in nursing for more than 35 years with the last 15 as a Nurse Practitioner. Her experience includes psychiatry; acute medical and surgical floors; medical, surgical, and coronary I.C.U.; and E.R. settings. She has also been nurse manager of an I.C.U. and a nursing supervisor. Currently a clinical instructor and adjunct faculty member in the College of Nursing at the University of Delaware, she also works as a private consultant and with a professional union. Ms. Woods serves on a post-deployment team caring for Iraqi war veterans and polytrauma patients. In addition to various certifications, she was Awarded Delaware Nurse Practitioner Advocate by A.A.N.P. in 2009. Ms. Woods is a member of A.N.A., Sigma Theta Tau, A.A.N.P., and D.C.N.P.
