The authentic "Wearin' New York" jacket! These came to us directly from the original distributor and were manufactured in 1991. This wearable Tyvek®, non-woven fabric jacket feels like leather. It's more comfortable and lighter than nylon, and folds like cloth. Roomy side-seam pockets. The collar, cuffs and waistband are made from knit polyester and the jacket is both wind and water resistant as well as fully stain resistant for longer wear time between washes. Best of all, when it's finally time to clean it, simply pop it into the wash*, no dry cleaning needed. We've worn jackets of this material and design for many years and found them to be great for windy and rainy weather. The brilliantly colored graphics on this jacket were created by John O'Brien, a cartoonist whose work has been featured in The New Yorker magazine. The illustrations are whimsical depictions of famous New York City landmarks and street scenes, including: The World Trade Center's Twin Towers Times Square The Statue of Liberty The Empire State Building (with King Kong) The Chrysler Building The Brooklyn Bridge *Tyvek can be machine-washed in cold water on a gentle cycle.
