About Moon Puerto Vallarta: Including The Nayarit

Product Description This full-color guide to Puerto Vallarta includes vibrant photos and helpful planning maps. Local writer Justin Henderson and seasoned travel author Bruce Whipperman know the best way to experience Puerto Vallarta—from dining at new restaurants in De Santos and Xitomate to snorkeling in the Bay of Matanchén. Packed with expert advice on dining, transportation, and accommodations, Moon Puerto Vallarta has options for a range of travel budgets. Including tips on the best beaches, local outdoor recreation, and places to shop for Huichol crafts, as well as brand new photographs, Moon Puerto Vallarta gives travelers the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience. About the Author In 2009, Justin Henderson left the United States with his family and moved down to Sayulita, a small town in Mexico about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. He frequently visits the city, both for business and for recreation. The author of Grunge Seattle (a music guide) and AA’s Los Angeles, Justin has also updated and expanded Fodor’s guide to Costa Rica as well as the AA guide to the Caribbean. Justin Henderson lives in Sayulita, Mexico. In the early 1980s, the lure of travel drew Bruce Whipperman away from a 20-year career of teaching physics. The occasion was a trip to Kenya, which included a total solar eclipse and a safari. He hasn't stopped traveling since. With his family grown, he has been free to let the world's wild, beautiful corners draw him onward: the ice-clawed Karakoram, the Gobi Desert's trellised oases, Rajasthan's pink palaces, Japan's green wine country, Bali's emerald terraces, and Oaxaca's vibrant marketplaces. Bruce has always pursued his travel career for the fun of it. He started with slide shows and photo gifts for friends. Others wanted his photos, so he began selling them. Once, stranded in Ethiopia, he began to write. A dozen years later, after scores of magazine and newspaper feature stories, Moon Pacific Mexico became his first book, and Moon Handbooks to Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo followed. For Bruce, travel writing heightens his awareness of the places he visits and helps him focus his own travel experiences. He'll always remember what a Nepali Sherpa once said: "Many people come, looking, looking; few people come, see." Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. A Perfect Day for Romance Ask any of the hundreds of brides, grooms, and honeymooning couples who visit each year, and they’ll tell you that Puerto Vallarta is the place for romance. Swaying palms on golden beaches, moonlit walks along the shore, and brilliant Pacific sunsets make the Bay of Banderas the perfect backdrop for weddings, anniversaries, engagements, or just a quick romantic getaway. The following are suggestions for a perfect romantic day in Puerto Vallarta. Start your morning with breakfast on your balcony. Order room service and start the day relaxed and unhurried while watching the waves together. When you’re ready, get dressed and hail a cab to Playa los Muertos. From there, enjoy an hour boat ride, viewing the magnificent mansions and villas that line the shore on your way to Yelapa. If it’s still early in the day, hike to the waterfall or take a horseback ride into the jungle. When you return, have a light lunch (and a slice of pie) at one of the beachfront restaurants. Go ahead and swim, sunbathe, or buy some trinkets from the local vendors, and then catch a return boat back to the pier. On your way back to your hotel, recharge with a couple’s massage at a local spa. Tables are set up side by side so you and your sweetie can enjoy the relaxing and healing powers of massage together. For a real treat, buy a package at one of the hotel spas to enjoy steam rooms, sauna, massage, and total pampering. Once back at your hotel, rest for a while before getting dressed for dinner. There are any number of restaurants along the Malecó
