Central to his story are the special and enduring bonds that form between brothers in arms and of the tragic loss of their beloved leader, Major Robert "Cowboy" Stout, the heroic leader of his squadron and an Ace of Guadalcanal. Both Bud and “Cowboy” Stout are from Wyoming and shared the “cowboy tough” spirit. This book is dedicated to Cowboy and to all of the members of VMF-114 who served our Nation so well.
