These artisan mezcal cups are made of natural red clay (barro rojo) by a cooperative of women living in San Marcos Tlapazola, Oaxaca, Mexico
Because they are handmade, no two pieces are exactly the same. They measure approximately 2.125" in diameter and about 1" high and hold around 1 ounce of liquid
Red clay products are made using traditional methods and are not chemically sealed
For best results, please soak the glasses in water for a few minutes before using. Clay is porous and will absorb any liquid that it comes in contact with. By soaking them in water, it will prevent them from absorbing the mezcal or tequila and will also keep your drink cool
Made in Mexico | Lead-free
San Marcos Tlapazola is a rural Zapotec village of about 1,100 people about an hour outside of Oaxaca City, Mexico. For 20 generations, the village has specialized in making cookware and tableware out of the red clay found in that region by the potters who are all women. These red clay mezcal copitas are made using traditional methods and are not chemically sealed. To use, simply soak the glasses in water before use to prevent seeping or stickiness before drinking.
