About Wheaton 358137 Tapered Style Tissue Grinder With
This unit is the same as the Wheaton 358103 series, but with a tapered PTFE pestle for soft tissues such as brain or liver. The stainless steel rod is 6.3 mm in diameter and is long enough to fit into the chuck of the Wheaton Overhead Stirrer (No. 903475). The conical surface allows initial size reduction followed by passage through the cylindrical section for the final homogenization step. Grinding efficiency is improved, and less time is required as compared to the Potter-Elvehjem design. The components are interchangeable eliminating need to keep parts matched during cleaning. Glass components manufactured from Wheaton 33 low extractable borosilicate glass that conforms to USP Type I and ASTM E-438 Type I, Class A requirements. Metal pestles made from No. 316 stainless steel rod with pestle tip made from PTFE.
