The American Educational 4733 four-in-one solar sensor is used for measuring sunlight as well as soil pH (alkalinity/acidity), soil fertility, and soil moisture. The meter has photo cells mounted on the top of the unit for calculating sunlight intensity in foot candles when pointed at the light source. The 4733 can also be used to monitor soil pH, soil moisture, and total combined nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash levels for evaluating soil nutrients. The meter has a slide switch for selecting the test to be performed, and a scale with a needle for displaying test readouts from 0 to 10. The 4733 includes an insert with instructions for operation, and does not require batteries. The meter measures 13.5 x 5.0 x 2.0 inches (L x W x H). (L is the horizontal distance from left to right; W is the horizontal distance from front to back; H is the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point.) The 4733 is suitable for grades 4 to 12 and ages 9 to 18.Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects.
