About Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster Heavy Relic

Though it looks like it's been gigging steadily since 1959, this Strat plays like it was made today. This beautifully accurate recreation of a '59 Strat is another notch in the belt of the Fender Custom Shop. It features a classic Stratocaster build with the Fender Custom Shop heavy relic treatment, and hand-wound Fat '50s pickups. This guitar is perfect for the player that loves that worn, vintage look on a brand new guitar.Classic Stratocaster BuildWith its double-cutaway shape, almost every player can immediately recognize the classic look of a Strat - no matter what year it was produced. This excellent Custom Shop '59 Strat recreation is cut from alder. It has a rift sawn maple neck in 1963 C shape. The neck spans 25.5 scale length and the maple fingerboard has a comfortable 9.5 radius. The bridge is an American vintage synchronized tremolo, and the tuning machines are also vintage-styled.Fender Custom Shop Heavy Relic TreatmentThe allure of this guitar comes from the heavy relic treatment it gets before leaving the Fender Custom Shop. The body of this guitar is finished in lacquer which is period-correct and allows the guitar to look naturally worn. The neck is finished with tinted nitrocellulose lacquer for the same reason. You'll notice this most in the incredibly accurate wearing of the back of the neck and the fretboard, the most touched area of any guitar. In addition, the control knobs have a faded color and the metallic hardware bears a slight haze.Hand-Wound Fat '50s PickupsIt's not enough to just look like 1959 - this guitar sounds like '59 as well. The three single-coil pickups are Fender Custom Shop hand-wound Fat '50s, with a RWRP middle pickup. The master volume, two tone knobs, and 5-way switch are rigged with vinta
