Felting needles types: -Triangular needles are the most common needle type and great for all kind of needle felting projects. They have 3 sides. -Spiral (twisted) felting needles are the same as triangular, but the blade is twisted. The twist needles lock fibers together very quickly; great for finishing off surfaces. -Star felting needles have 4 sides; as a result they have more barbs for quicker felting, and also more suited for work with course fibers; great for joining pieces together and for sculpting. -Inverted/Reverse felting needles have barbs that are cut in the opposite direction from other needles. This allows the needle to pull fibers out instead of pushing them in. They are used for creating textures like fuzz or fur; can also be used for pulling inner layers of different color to the surface. Gauges guide: - 36 Gauge - starting and shaping - 38 Gauge - working and shaping - 40 Gauge - detailing You need to wipe needles before first use because they are covered with protective oil. CAUTION: Felting needles are very sharp and fragile. To protect yourself (and needles) you must work with your fibres on a sponge or felting mat. Using finger protectors is advisable.
