About The Bhagavad Gita 101: A Modern, Practical

Product Description The Bhagavad Gita (or “Song of God”) is one of the richest, most complete, and most important spiritual works ever composed. Its teachings have been a timeless source of inspiration, wisdom, and guidance for over a thousand years. The Gita (as it is affectionately known) is laid out as the story of a regular person, Arjuna, who has become despondent after coming to see life as a meaningless, pointless, and never-ending struggle. Arjuna is ready to quit. Sound familiar?  Krishna (a mysterious friend and hero of the story) comes to Arjuna in his time of need and counsels him on the meaning of life as well as the path that leads to purpose and deliverance.  What does Arjuna find at the end of his journey? Meaning. Tranquility. Enlightenment. Because the struggles Arjuna faced and suffered from are the same as those we face today, the teachings of the Gita are every bit as pertinent in our era as they were over a thousand years ago when it was first recorded. I designed my version of this enduring classic to be concise, modern, and accessible to all readers, even those with no prior knowledge of Hindu philosophy.  “We behold what we are, and we are what we behold.” -The Bhagavad Gita Scroll up and discover the majesty of the Gita for yourself! Review "Most thoughtful people, throughout their lifetimes, wonder what life really means and what their role is within it. It is said that fear is derived from ignorance and that knowledge overcomes fear. The author of The Bhagavad Gita 101 leads the reader through a journey of enlightenment that is not only fun to read but gives the reader the knowledge to remove fear from their personal experiences. A must read for those who care and wonder!" -RB (reader, Amazon.com) From the Author I never intended to write this book. Stephen Mitchell's version was so beautiful that I did not see the point. Eventually I came to the realization that even though I did not believe I could write a more beautiful rendition, I may be able to write a more simplified one. And maybe there were people out there that needed exactly that.  I also did not mean to write the second book of the Ancient Hindu Enlightenment Series first. Just as I never planned on writing The Bhagavad Gita 101, but eventually did, I am now in the middle of writing The Upanishads 101. Since the Upanishads were historically written before The Bhagavad Gita, The Upanishads 101 will be book number one in this series, even though The Bhagavad Gita 101 was released first.  I related deeply with this work. It is a story of a man, Arjuna, who represents each of us. He has come to the point in his life where everything is just too hard. There's too much to do ... something bad is always happening ... for every step forward it seems you are taking two steps back. Arjuna just does not see the point in the struggle anymore. I do not know about anyone else, but I have definitely been there myself.  Krishna, the enlightened Master or Messiah of the story (however you wish to view it), counsels Arjuna, explaining the purpose of life and guiding him beyond his despondency. I felt as if Krishna could just as easily been talking to me.  From the Inside Flap The Bhagavad Gita is considered to be a compact summary of Hindu teachings - a kind of "Cliff's Notes" for the Hindu religion. In only 700 verses, The Bhagavad Gita succinctly outlines the culmination of all Hindu beliefs. For this reason, the "Gita" (as it is affectionately referred to) is considered to be the flagship scripture, the cornerstone teaching of the Hindu religion. From the Back Cover The Bhagavad Gita (or "Song of Life") is meant to be a comprehensive guidebook to the human condition. We have all, I'm sure, wished at one point or another that life came with a such a guidebook. For the Hindus, the Gita is exactly that - a blueprint for correct living in a tumultuous and ever-changing world.  Is there a purpose, a reason we are here? Is the
