The DSO138mini is an upgraded version of the popular DSO138 DIY oscilloscope kit. DSO138mini has similar performance as DSO138 but also comes with some significant improvements: The scope can run on USB or a single cell 3.7V Li-ion battery, which makes it much more convenient for portable applications. The power supply circuit also has been greatly simplified and has a lower component count. DSO138mini has the LCD and MCU on one PCB to avoid the problematic pin-header connections that were used in DSO138. This not only increases product reliability, but also allows the main board to be used as a flexible general purpose controller. The overall size of DSO138mini is only 2/3 of DSO138, so it is much more suitable for hand-held operation. The DSO138mini has improvements in the firmware too. For example, its trigger runs reliably under 10us and 20us timebase settings. Waveform data can be output through the serial port, and the data can be easily displayed on PC with help of other software like Gnuplot. Like DSO138, the MCU of DSO138mini has been preprogrammed. Its main board has been tested before packing. Users only need to solder a few pin-headers to it before use. Most of the soldering work is done on the analog board. This ensures that the project will not only be fun and fulfilling, but also successful! NOTE: soldering skills and tools are ESSENTIAL to completing this project!
