The Fowler 54-245 series digital indicating micrometer has a flat anvil/spindle pair, a choice of measuring range, an LCD with an inch/metric switchable resolution, and is designed for use as a comparator or Go/No Go (Go/NG) gauge for comparing parts with tight tolerances. A switchable resolution of 0.0005", 0.00005", 0.01mm, and 0.001mm readings provides precise readings. A measuring force of 4.5 to 6N and a repeatability of 0.00005"/1μm provides repeatable measurements between operators. Carbide-tipped measuring faces provide wear resistance. The non-rotating spindle ensures workpieces are secure when measuring. After setting, a spindle locking screw holds the spindle in place while the anvil retracts 0.275" for quick release and placement of workpieces. The setting table can be adjusted to the desired height and a setting screw locks the height in place for consistent placement of workpieces. The LCD records minimum, maximum, and total indicator reading (TIR), has a hold feature that saves the reading for recording, and can be set to zero at any spindle location. Two measuring references can be individually preset to operator preferences. Settable tolerance limits allows the operator to view at a glance whether or not workpieces fall within acceptable limits. Bidirectional RS-232C output transfers data to a computer (cable not included). The micrometer requires a CR2032 battery (included), and includes a fitted case. Micrometers 2" and above include a standard. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The Fred V. Fowler Company manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA. What’s in the Box? Fowler 54-245 series digital micrometer Standard (for micrometers 2" and above) Wrench CR2032 battery Fitted case
