Heavy-Duty - The Starrett Micrometer has a gracefully designed tapered frame for use in narrow slots and tight places. The balanced frame design is perfect for comfortable and accurate measuring.
Quality Tool - It comes with Starrett no-glare satin chrome finish on thimble and sleeve, no-glare black finish on the frame and micro-lapped measuring faces. The anvil and spindle are sized at .250" (6.35mm).
Easy to Read - The balanced frame and thimble design ensures easy handling and better readability. It's clear, easily read numbers reduce errors and has an extremely hard and stable one-piece spindle. .001" or .01mm is read directly from the counter.
Quick Adjusting Tool - The Micrometer is the perfect tool for making quick and easy adjustments. It comes with carbide measuring faces and ring-type knurled lock nut for quick and sure locking.
Accurate Measurements - Starrett precision measuring tools exceed accuracy and performance requirements of national and international standards, providing excellent fine precision tools for industrial, professional and consumer markets worldwide.
The Starrett 216XRL series outside micrometer has a mechanical digit counter for ease of reading to 0.001”, a tapered frame for measuring narrow slots and tight places, and a ratchet-stop mechanism helps provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurements. The micrometer’s steel frame has a black enamel finish for protection and durability. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.0001” with a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle and anvil have flat, micro-lapped measuring faces for accuracy and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A knurled ring-type lock nut helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, MA.
