I blur the relationship between foreground and background, creating an ambiguity of light and space: what appears to be a floating sense of radiant light at a distance blends into the surface as the viewer approaches the painting. My goal is a hint of dynamic energy within a quiet, contemplative space. The seemingly white surface of each painting is actually comprised of several colors that reveal themselves gradually after several minutes of meditation, bringing a temporal dimension to the viewing experience. The painting extends onto the 1.5 inch edges of the canvas, so no frame is necessary.
