About Seeds Flowering Kale Cabbage Ornamental Decorative

An annual plant that grows up to 6 to 12". Forms a round socket with blistered leaves in mixed colors. The outer leaves are often green, pink, cream, or red. Used for decorative borders and group plantings, and for growing in pots. Instructions on how to grow Flowering Kale: To accelerate germination, cabbage seeds are soaked in water at room temperature, placed in a warm place, and kept there for 12 hours, changing the water every 4 hours. Water is poured so that it only covers the seeds. The next step is seed hardening. To do this, soaked seeds are kept for 24 hours in the lower part of the refrigerator at a temperature of 35 ℉. This speeds up seed germination and increases the cold resistance of plants. After hardening, the moist seeds are dried so that they do not stick to the fingers and begin to sow them. Kale seeds require light for germination, so DO NOT COVER THEM with soil. It is best to sow Kale seeds directly into the garden, where they are to grow. Sow Kale seeds about six to ten weeks before the first anticipated frost. Keep the soil moderately moist during germination. The seeds will germinate and sprout in one or two weeks, depending upon weather and soil warmth. When the young plants are about 3 inches tall, thin them out leaving the strongest and best plants spaced about 18 to 24 inches apart. For starting seeds indoors, I recommend that they be sown directly into a large 6-8 inch pot, to avoid the problems associated with transplanting. Once the seeds of Ornamental Cabbage are sown, place the flat or pot in the refrigerator for 3 days to expedite germination. Flowering Kale does not need this pre-chilling period. Happy harvest!
