About Calibrating Digital Cameras & Lenses, The Use Of

This book is about using a lens calibration target, such as Datacolor's Spyder LensCal?, and Sigma's USB Dock (Tamron's TAP-in Console is almost identical) to calibrate a camera and lens for exceptionally sharp images. Of course, you may use any target and you do not need to own the USB Dock to learn about lens calibration from the text but I have found these tools to be very effective. Six photographs and several illustrations accompany the book. I explore calibrating the Sigma 18-35mm zoom lens within this book. I used the procedure described in this book to calibrate my Sigma 18-35mm and I even placed a photograph of the finished result at the end of the book! The Sigma USB Dock, accompanying software, and Spyder LensCal worked exceptionally well together to bring the lens & camera to a state of near perfection. I also explore the use of a lens' axial chromatic aberration (color fringing) to help discover the point of greatest sharpness on a color target such as the LensCal. This is an ongoing project and I hope to build upon the work done here. My website is www.phototeacherusa.com
