About Pre Bent 1.5 Degree Pinewood Derby Steering Axle
Pre Bent, polished, grooved and graphite coated Bent Steering Axle from Pinewood Pro has a slight 1.5 degree bend and an Easy Turn slotted head so you can easily turn it with a screw driver. This bend will steer your wheel left or right to make your car steer straight or steer gently into the rail if you want to make a rail rider car.Getting your pinewood derby car to steer straight is a critical speed adjustment and it is the most challenging thing to accomplish. I have personally spent hours tweaking my son's cars so it steers straight. If your car does not steer straight, the wheels hit the guide rails, causing your car to lose valuable speed. The PRO Graphite-Coated Steering Axle is made from our PRO Super Speed grooved and nickel plated axle. USAGE: Just replace one of your front axles with the PRO Graphite-Coated Steering Axle oriented so the screwdriver slot is vertical (straight up and down). Then gently turn the axle with a screw driver to make that wheel steer left or right until your car rolls straight for 6 to 8 feet. It's as easy as that! You can also use the steering axle to create a Rail Rider car. The PRO Graphite-Coated Steering Axle from Pinewood Pro...saves time, while getting your car to maximum velocity. Package contains a single (1) Steering Axle. IMPORTANT NOTES: You only need a slight 1.5 degree bend to steer your wheels. THE 1.5 DEGREE BEND IS A VERY SLIGHT BEND THAT YOU CAN NOT SEE WITH THE NAKED EYE. However, if you roll the bent axle on a flat surface, you will see that it does not roll smoothly compared to an unbent axle.
