The the plant is also considered an herb and has been used in herbal remedies to treat diarrhea, chronic gonorrhea, gleet, leucorrhoea, chronic dysentery, atonic dyspepsia, pulmonary hemorrhage, chronic laryngitis, and bronchorrhea.
