This is an absorbing video that will reward multiple viewings! Anyone interested in yoga, especially vinyasa and Ashtanga in particular, will appreciate the dedication to the practice displayed by the practitioners in this demonstration. The asana section is underscored with a mesmorizing soundscape - a blend of tabla, world-music percussion, and ujjayi waves & ocean surf. The video finishes with a beautifully sincere meditation and a question & answer session with the presenters. About the Intermediate or "2nd series" of the Ashtanga system: called Nadi Shodana, which means cleansing of the energy channels. This being the aim and result of this practice which focuses on the energy body after having made the physical body strong and flexible with the practice of the 1st series. This is an invigorating practice which presents many new challenges to those already familiar with the primary series of the Ashtanga practice. This series is an ideal complement to the first series practice as it introduces more back bending, arm balancing and inversions. Greater awareness and appreciation for the lifting energy of Mula and Uddiyana Bandha is discovered through this practice. Traditionally the intermediate series is begun after about two years of daily Ashtanga practice.
