Product Description Uses Verilog HDL to illustrate computer architecture and microprocessor design, allowing readers to readily simulate and adjust the operation of each design, and thus build industrially relevant skills Introduces the computer principles, computer design, and how to use Verilog HDL (Hardware Description Language) to implement the design Provides the skills for designing processor/arithmetic/cpu chips, including the unique application of Verilog HDL material for CPU (central processing unit) implementation Despite the many books on Verilog and computer architecture and microprocessor design, few, if any, use Verilog as a key tool in helping a student to understand these design techniques A companion website includes color figures, Verilog HDL codes, extra test benches not found in the book, and PDFs of the figures and simulation waveforms for instructors From the Inside Flap The first of its kind, this succinct book combines the detailed logic of computer architecture and microprocessor design with numerous examples of Verilog HDL, an industrially important hardware design language. Fundamental and advanced level design concepts are illustrated using simulations that readers can readily duplicate. Its comprehensive contents also include circuit design in HDL, computer arithmetic algorithms, design challenges, memory management, multi-core CPU design, as well as high-performance computers and complex networks. • Introduces fundamental computer principles and design, and how to use Verilog HDL for design implementation • Provides skills for designing processor/arithmetic/CPU chips, including the unique application of Verilog HDL material for CPU implementation • Highlights the use of Verilog as a key tool in understanding design techniques • A companion website features color figures, Verilog HDL codes and extra test benches not found in the book With numerous source codes and simulation waveforms, Computer Principles and Design in Verilog HDL is an important reference text for advanced students of computer design courses. It also serves as a handy guide for system engineers interested in Verilog HDL and CPU design.
