About Cosecha

Product Description Chaskinakuy's Edmond Badoux and Francy Vidal deliver an Andean harvest of compelling melodies and infectious rhythms with their second recording, Cosecha. The naturally acoustic sounds of native flutes, strings, and drums shine through in each heart-fluttering love song, lively courtship dance, earth-rooted agricultural melody, joyful festival theme, and neo-traditional composition, capturing Andean music's glorious diversity. Review Love songs, courtship dances, agricultural songs and festival themes are blended with neo-traditional originals. All are fascinating and exquisite. --Whitley Setrakian, The Ann Arbor News, May 23, 1992 From the Artist Edmond Badoux: arpa peruana, guitar, charango, ronrroco, rondador, rondador pequeño, antara, sikus, kenas, pinkullo, clarín, tinya, bombo, wankara, vocals Francy Vidal: mandolina, rondador pequeño, antara, sikus, kenas, pinkullo, tinya, bombo, cajoneo de arpa, ch'ajchas, vocals About the Artist Explorers and interpreters of traditional musics from South America’s high mountains for over three decades, Andean music masters Edmond Badoux (Los Quinchamali, Sukay) and Francy Vidal formed the duo Chaskinakuy (Cha-ski-NOCK-wee) in 1985. Equipped with an extraordinary, museum quality collection of regional instruments that includes flutes and panpipes of bamboo, bone and feathers, goatskin drums, a 10-foot long Peruvian trumpet, harps, guitar, charangos, mandolin and more, the duo traverses musical terrain travelled by few. Taking its name from the native Quechua word that means 'to give and receive from hand to hand among many', Chaskinakuy charts new territory for Andean and world music lovers alike. The duo has performed in thousands of concerts, festivals and educational programs across the U.S., in Canada and in Switzerland and is currently featured in the 2002/2005 Schirmer Books textbook and CD, 'Worlds of Music: An Introduction to the Music of the World's Peoples'.
