Review Drawn from guitar maestro Angel Romero's late-'70s recordings, this compilation offers an illuminating solo essay on 19th- and 20th-century Spanish composers Isaac Albiniz, Francisco Tarrega, Joaqumn Turina and Moreno Torroba. Romero's technique is impeccably precise yet full of warmth. His Albiniz settings include "Csrdoba," invoking the Moorish textures of southern Spain, and two selections from Suite Espaqola-the driving "Leyenda" and the familiar, Gypsy-inspired "Sevillanas." There are two reflective Tarrega preludes and four Turina numbers-a fandango variation and three Andalusian dances.
