About The Mayflower Sails Again
On April 20 1957 an exact replica of the Mayflower, the ship that took the Pilgrim Fathers to America, set sail from Plymouth, 337 years after the original. Despite rolling heavily in a bad storm the ship proved fully sea worthy and the modern day crew reached Provincetown, Massachusetts 54 days later. The captain Alan Villiers had used replicas of the original navigation instruments.
