About Shimpo DT-311J-230V Heavy Duty Digital

The Shimpo DT-311J-230V heavy duty digital stroboscope has a xenon flash tube, a 200 to 1,500 flashes per minute (FPM) flash range, and is Ingress Protection 65 (IP65) rated for use in harsh conditions. It is designed for motion analysis, preventive maintenance, and speed measurement of repetitive motion in harsh or wet environments including textile, weaving, and printing industries. The stroboscope is used to set injection timing, injection pressure, timing of shedding and weft running time of weaving machinery. The xenon flash tube provides crisp images in brightly lit areas. Xenon flash tubes have brighter light output and a shorter flash duration than LED lights. Bright light output is required for quality images in brightly lit areas, and shorter flash durations provide sharper images, especially at high rates of speed. Internal and external trigger modes have a 200 to 1,500 FPM range and an accuracy of + or - 1 digit. An alarm indicates an out-of-range speed below 200 or above 1,500rpm. External mode features include automatic synchronization, phase shift, tachometer mode (rpm), and divide ratio selection. Divide ratios of 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and 2/4 enable the operator to distinguish true RPM from harmonics. Phase shift has a range of 0 to 359 degrees in one-degree increments to enable the operator to adjust the focal point of the object to any point in the rotation without moving the trigger point. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 4X housing is IP65 rated against airborne particles, water, and corrosive agents. Shock-absorbing components provide protection in harsh environments. The stroboscope is 230V AC line powered and includes a 6m/19.68ft input and power cable with a connector, a rubber strobe guard with handle, and instructions. Stroboscopes are used in a variety of settings including manufacturing, printing, education, and photography.SpecificationsFlash range (internal and external)200 to 1,500 RPMAccuracy+ or - 1 digitInternal mode featuresFlash rate adjustmentExternal mode featuresAutomatic synchronization, phase shift, RPM, divide ratio selectionDisplay4-digit LEDDivide ratios1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 2/4Flash rate/Phase angle controlRotary dialPhase shift0 to 359 degrees in 1 degree incrementsLight source10W xenon flash tube with 1,200 hour life span at 1,500 RPMPower requirements230V AC + or - 10%, 50/60 HzDimensions6.85 x 5.87 x 8.43"/174 x 149 x 214mm (H x W x D)Weight4.2lb./1.9kgH is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Stroboscopes evaluate the functionality of fast-moving rotational objects, such as belts, fan blades, and other machine parts. They are used in industries such as manufacturing, entertainment, high-speed printing, wood and metal turning, and in education and research settings. Stroboscopes have a flashing light (strobe) that, when directed at a moving object, makes the object appear to be stopped or moving in slow motion. This enables the operator to evaluate machine performance without stopping the machine. Stroboscopes use either xenon flash tubes or LED light sources. The strobe is triggered either internally, which allows the operator to manually adjust the flash rate, or externally and automatically by a peripheral sensor. Multiply-by-2 (2/4 or 2X) and divide-by-2 (1/2) functionality enables the operator to verify the actual revolutions per minute (RPM) and to distinguish true RPM from harmonics. Phase shift adjusts the flash delay in degrees of a full rotation, and time delay adjusts the flash delay in seconds or fractions of a second. Input and output features enable the operator to use peripheral sensors to trigger flash rates, to perform tachometer operations, or to daisy-chain stroboscopes. Shimpo Instruments manufactures force, torque, and speed evaluation instruments. The company, founded in 1974 and headquartered in Itasca, IL, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
