About Through Dungeons Deep: A Fantasy Gamers' Handbook

Product Description Through Dungeons Deep delves into the art of role-playing, showing players and Game Masters how to have more fun and excitement with fantasy role-playing games. First published more than 25 years ago, this book was an instant classic, and is now part of the old-school revival. Long out of print, the original edition sells for several times its cover price. This Norton Creek Press reprint makes the book available (and affordable) again. Robert Plamondon wrote Through Dungeons Deep after realizing that the most important part of role-playing games—role playing—is barely mentioned in gaming systems. When it is, role-playing is often confused with "following the rules." But role-playing really boils down to make-believe—or perhaps "interactive fiction" is the right term—and the real fun in role-playing games comes from unlocking your imagination. But it's also important to carry a length of rope and wear shoes you can run in. This Norton Creek Press book is an exact replica of the original edition. Visit http://www.nortoncreekpress.com for more of our classic reprints. From the Publisher At Norton Creek Press, we recognize that most of the world's best books are out of print and forgotten, but we're fixing that, one book at a time. About the Author Robert Plamondon is a writer, farmer, game designer, and computer engineer. Robert Plamondon started playing Dungeons & Dragons in college. He wrote many articles on role-playing games and early computer games, including over a dozen articles for Dragon Magazine. He worked for Activision during its glory days and wrote the last piece of Atari 2600 code they every shipped. He later worked on 2D and 3D graphics accelerators and network accelerators for Silicon Valley startup companies, for which he has been awarded seventeen patents. While computer games are nice, Plamondon prefers simple, fast-moving tabletop RPG systems using old-fashioned lead miniatures and plenty of laughter, and still has his three rule booklets from the original Dungeons & Dragons boxed set. Through Dungeons Deep is his first book. His most recent book is One Survivor, a science fiction novel set in a distant future developed by Paul Gazis for his long-running Eight Worlds role-playing campaign. Plamondon telecommutes from his farm in Oregon, where he also raises free-range chickens.
