About Len Chmiel: An Authentic Nature

Product description Featuring lush reproductions of the landscapes of American artist Len Chmiel, this book depicts four decades of the artist's melodic, evocative, and often abstracted depictions of the land. Amy Scott contributes a fine essay discussing Chmiel's formative years as an illustrator in Los Angeles through his subsequent move to Colorado, where he turned from illustration and dove into fine art exclusively. From the Inside Flap Featuring lush reproductions of the landscapes of American artist Len Chmiel, this book depicts four decades of the artist's melodic, evocative, and often abstracted depictions of the land. From the Back Cover Featuring lush reproductions of the landscapes of American artist Len Chmiel, this book depicts four decades of the artist's melodic, evocative, and often abstracted depictions of the land. About the Author Amy Scott, Autry Museum Curator of Visual Arts, has organized exhibits and contributed to such publications as Yosemite: Art of an American Icon. Prior to joining the Autry, she was a curator at the Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe, where she served as the liaison for a catalogue raisonné of the work of Ernest Blumenschein and a comprehensive study on the Taos Society of Artists. Publications authored include Nicolai Fechin: Across Two Continents, The Taos Society of Artists: Masters and Masterworks, and The New Mexico Painters (coauthor). She received her BA in art history from the University of Kansas and an MA in art history from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, where she worked as a curatorial assistant at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
