Easy to use prepoured agar plate science kit. NO pouring your own plates, which is time consuming and potentially dangerous and NO autoclaving. This is an excellent science kit to learn microbiology and great for science fair projects. Each plate is coated with a thick nutrient rich agar, which microorganisms love! See increased growth and performance compared to other products. Kit Contents: 1. 10 pre-poured nutrient rich agar plates 2. 10 cotton tipped sticks 3. 1 vial of purified water to be used in experiments 4. 2 transfer pipettes Basic Instructions: 1. We recommend that unopened plates be refrigerated so they last longer (NOT FROZEN-this will crack the agar). Once the plate packaging is opened, plates should be used within 30 days. 2. Take out agar plates and let them warm up to room temperature for about 1 hour. 3. Get a cotton tip stick. Wet the cotton tip with water if you are going to be testing dry areas to pick up more bacteria. 4. Swab different objects (e.g. teeth, phone, sink, etc.) to pick up microscopic organisms. 5. Gently wipe the cotton tip contents onto the surface of the agar plate. 6. Close the lid and turn the plate upside down so that the lid is on the bottom and agar is on the top. 7. Incubate plates at 84-100°F using a portable heater or a desk lamp. Keep a thermometer nearby. 8. Watch stuff grow! Colonies should be visible in 1-4 days.
