About Feline Cardiology

Product Description Feline Cardiology is the first book dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in cats.  Designed for use in clinical practice, this reference combines cutting-edge information with practical applications, using a consistent format for ease of use.  Feline Cardiology provides detailed, species-specific information that is absent from other texts, with an emphasis on the most commonly encountered feline cardiovascular diseases. Drawing on the expertise of four internationally recognized authors, the book is packed with state-of-the-art information within the framework of daily practice.  Coverage ranges from basic and advanced treatment approaches for cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, and many other disorders to the newest information on genetic testing, circulating markers of heart disease, and more.  Feline Cardiology provides a comprehensive single resource to managing cardiovascular disease in cats and is a welcome addition to any small animal practice library. Review “This makes it a very interesting book for both residents in training and general practitioners.  All of these features make the acquisition of a copy of Feline Cardiology very worthwhile for all Veterinarians who wish to know more about cardiology, and not necessarily only feline cardiology.”  (EJCAP, 1 March 2013) “Feline Cardiology’ is a must-have in-clinic text, dedicated to the complex discipline of cardiology in the feline species. It provides easy-to-locate key information for quick reference by the busy or less experienced veterinarian, while incorporating in-depth and advanced material of interest to the more enthusiastic practitioner, referral clinician or those undertaking further study in small animal cardiology.”  (Veterinary Record, 8 December 2012) “This book should be in your bookshelf if you are serious about the cat’s heart!.”  (Vet Nurses Today, 2012) A fantastic book. The pictures alone are worth the price of the book. The echocardiograms are all clearly marked so even a novice can quickly see what the issues are which stands out well.  The four authors have done an amazing job getting this material together from distant sites and yet have managed a hard task in making the book into a unified and well organized text. Anyone interested in the cat should certainly want this not only on his/her bookshelf but used daily in the clinic alongside the radiographs and the ultrasound machine. The addition of diseases complicating cardiac conditions or simply found in conjunction with heart problems is one that many vets face daily and this should provide them with some great help. Of course the entire section on hypertension is one that fits into the feline profile as an important adjunctive cardiac problem and needed to be as complete and as well written as this one is.  (December 2011, Steve Ettinger, DVM, DACVIM, FACC, FAHA)   "The book is well organized and the most important subjects in feline clinical cardiology are addressed and supported by high quality illustrations and images. Various important  features make the book very user-friendly for a busy clinician. For instance, through the different sections the authors summarize “Key Points” that should be kept in mind, and the most relevant references are underlined at the end of each chapter. There is also a chapter giving general therapeutic guidelines and a drug formulary with the main indications and dosages of the most frequently used cardiovascular drugs. Finally, some important reference numbers that one should know are strategically placed on the back cover of the book."
