About Meade Instruments 645003 LPI-G Advanced Lunar
Meade Instruments designed the color LPI-G Advanced Autoguiding and Imaging Camera for easy use by beginner and veteran astrophotographers alike. As an imaging camera, it simply replaces a 1.25" eyepiece in the drawtube or diagonal to capture photos of the Sun (using appropriate solar filters or dedicated solar scopes), the Moon, planets, planetary moons, and wide-field nightscapes. Using a USB 3.0 connection, captured stills and videos are sent to a laptop or PC to be processed, edited, matted, and stacked using the included Sky Capture software. To add versatility to the system, the snout can be removed and the camera can be used with more conventional CCTV gear and accessories with standard C-mounts. This version of the LPI-G is offered here with a color CMOS sensor that captures accurate colors of celestial objects.For more experienced astrophotographers that have larger and/or custom imaging rigs, the LPI-G Adavanced is outfitted with an ASCOM-compliant ST-4 port to connect it to autoguider-capable mounts and GoTo hand controllers. In this capacity, the LPI-G is installed on a secondary guider-scope, and the primary imaging system is installed on the larger OTA. With the LPI-G connected to a mount and PC, it will use the camera and user-supplied autoguider software to monitor the mount's tracking and make precise corrections to reduce or eliminate errors which can result in fuzzy images and star trails
