Test and properly gap the spark plugs for any car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, boat, lawnmower, golf cart, chainsaw, or anything else that uses a combustion motor for power. Improperly gapped spark plugs can be a common reason for older plugs to struggle or fail. Sometimes the solution is simply to regap the old plug, while other times you’ll need to reinstall a brand new, properly gapped plug to fix the engine issue. Remember, most modern cars use just a few spark plug gaps sizes, and you can usually buy spark plugs pre-gapped to these specifications. However, if you’re conscientious, it might be worth measuring the gaps on these pre-gapped plugs before installing them, just to be safe. Remember, before you perform any serious engine repair, including replacing or re-gapping spark plugs, first disconnect your battery lead to protect you from shock.
