About Premium Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea Gift Set

A legend told of an iron statue of Guanyin stood in a rundown temple in central Fujian province. The temple’s condition saddens a tea grower who passed it every day to his farm. Unable to repair it, the poor farmer thought that the least he could do was to burn incense and clean the place twice a month. One night Guanyin appeared to him in his dream and told him to look behind the temple for a gift that he can share it with others. There he found a single tea sapling which he planted and cultivated into a bush with leaves that produced an exquisite fine tea. He named it the Guanyin tea, and gave many cuttings to his neighbors. All in the region prospered, and eventually the temple was rebuilt. In fact, this tea traces back to the 19th century, during the Qing dynasty as one of the royal court favorite. Today, this tea comes from the county of Anxi in the Fujian Province, China, and there the mountainous terrain provides the perfect mixture of high altitude, moisture and rich soil to grow this tea. It may have been named for the appearance of its processed leaves, dark as iron and heavier than other teas, but with a quality as pure and beautiful as Guanyin. STEEPING INSTRUCTION: Use 2-3 grams of tea for each 6 oz water Rinse the tea in your teapot with a quick application of hot water and immediately discard this liquid Add additional hot water to start the 1st steeping Steep for 1 – 1.5 minutes Re-steep 3 additional times (or more!) for 2 minutes each Water temperature should be 175°-185°F
