About Starrett S7793Z Contact And Non-Contact Digital

The Starrett S7793Z portable contact/noncontact tachometer measures rotational speed, linear speed, count, and has a timer, a laser beam for noncontact measurements, and an LCD screen. This contact/noncontact portable tachometer is used for measuring the speed of motors, conveyor belts, and other moving and rotational systems. It can measure rotational speed, linear speed, count, and time for versatility. The tachometer provides contact measurements in in./min, ft./min, yd./min, m/min, or cm/min, and noncontact measurement in rpm for flexibility of use. Its optical sensor is a laser beam that works at a distance of up to 25 feet for user safety. The LCD screen presents test results and the unit of measurement, and it has on-target and low battery indicators. It stores the maximum, minimum, and last test result values for ease of data recall. It is autoranging, to display the most appropriate test result value automatically; or it can be set to display results with a fixed decimal value. This tachometer is suitable for measuring rotational speed and other measurements in mechanical or industrial engineering environments. The Starrett S7793Z accommodates remote contact attachments and remote sensors (sold separately), and it has a TTL-compatible pulse output to trigger devices such as data collectors or stroboscopes. The non-slip rubber housing provides gripping ease during one-handed use, and it can be tripod-mounted and locked to take continuous measurements. The tachometer conforms to NIST standards for compliance with regulations. It comes with a remote contact assembly, two contact adapters, a surface speed wheel, reflective tape, two AA batteries, an NIST traceable certificate of calibration, and a case.SpecificationsNoncontact range5 to 200,000rpmContact range0.5 to 20,000rpmNoncontact accuracy+/-0.01%Contact accuracy+/-0.05%Resolution0.001 to 10rpmOperating distance2 inches to 25 feetDisplay5 digitsWorking temperature range5 to 40 degrees C (40 to 105 degrees F); 80% RH up to 31 degrees C (88 degrees F)Power(2) AA batteriesDimensions6.92 x 2.4 x 1.6 inches (H x W x D)Weight210g/7 oz.H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Tachometers measure the rate of rotation or surface speed of motors, conveyor belts, and other moving systems. Contact tachometers take measurements through direct contact with the moving surface, and can measure both rpm and surface speed. Typically, contact tachometers come with a range of attachments that can be used to measure speed on different kinds of rotary systems, which may include tips used for measuring shafts with a central hole or flat end surfaces, and rotary wheels for measuring conveyor belts. Noncontact tachometers take measurements from a distance using a beam of infrared light, and provide highly accurate measurements. Contact tachometers are an excellent choice for dirty and dusty environments; noncontact tachometers only calculate rpm but are considered safer because they do not require the operator to be in close contact with the moving surface. Contact/noncontact tachometers, also known as dual, or combination tachometers, can be used to take contact and noncontact measurements. Some tachometers can also take other types of measurements, such as count or frequency, while others can output data to a computer for analysis. Tachometers are used in applications such as automobile maintenance, mechanical engineering, and maintenance of industrial equipment. The L.S.
