Grinnell was a long-time editor of Field and Stream and wrote several landmark books on the Pawnee, Blackfoot, and Cheyenne. A professional editor, Joseph A. Fitzgerald has had a life-long love for the tribes of the Plains and is an adopted Grandson of Thomas Yellowtail, a Crow Sun Dance chief.
