About The Flash: The Death Of Iris West

Product Description Run for your life! When a bolt of lightning struck a labratory cabinet full of chemicals, police scientist Barry Allen gained super-speed abilities.  Using his newfound powers to fight crime, he became Central City's greatest hero—the Flash!   Thanks to his enhanced speed, Barry can cover great distances in the blink of an eye and vibrate his molecules so quickly that he can pass through solid objects. But not even the Fastest Man Alive can dodge calamity when his beloved wife, Iris, is murdered.    Grief-stricken, the Flash launches a one-man crusade to bring his wife's killer to justice, with all evidence pointing to an escaped metahuman convict. But is all as it seems, or is someone else responsible for masterminding the darkest moment in Barry Allen's life? Whoever the killer may be, they're about to learn that you can't outrun justice...especially when the Scarlet Speedster is on your trail.  The Flash: The Death of Iris West collects The Flash #270-284 and recounts one of the most iconic story lines in pre-Crisis history.  About the Author Cary Bates is a comic book and animation writer. He was born in Pennsylvania in the United States. Bates began submitting ideas for comic book covers to DC Comics at the age of 13, and a number of them were bought and published, the first as the cover to SUPERMAN #167 (February 1964). Bates began to sell stories to DC when he was 17. Bates is best known for his work for DC Comics on such titles as ACTION COMICS, CAPTAIN ATOM, THE FLASH, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES and SUPEMAN. He began working for the publisher in 1963 and continued to do so up until the early 1990s. His other work includes the comic strips The Lone Ranger (1980-1983), Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1981-1983), and Disney's Gargoyles during the 1990s. Bates appeared in his own comics several times alongside superheroes like the Silver Age version of the Flash and the Justice League of America.
