While practicing with his high school football team, Jim made his last tackle that forever changed his life. Instantly paralyzed from the chest down from a Spinal Cord Injury. Confidence is suddenly replaced by fear and entrapment in a motionless body. The future that once seemed promising now seemed unimaginable and frightening. Beginning with his childhood, then vividly chronicling his tragic accident at fifteen. It becomes a fight for survival and finding relevancy in a world that seems foreign to him. Can he find the life he envisioned and had taken for granted? What Readers Are Saying About The Last Tackle Buy it, Read it and be forever changed. The writing is so powerful and packed with reality, it is difficult to imagine. I had to read with one eye closed, the other squinted and closing the book to get relief. Jim Wallgren shows he is a very brave and humble man. Amazing story told so openly, revealing deep emotional states. It is a book that will change the reader. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's a powerful read of overcoming trauma and disability, trudging through each day to live life to the fullest. I recommend if you enjoy both sports memoirs and stories of succeeding against adversity. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review The amount of pain and hardship Wallgren endures after being paralyzed in a football practice mishap is unthinkable. What it put his family through is almost equally as challenging. How strenuous it must have been to re-live what he went through as he wrote this, though it must've been therapeutic as well. The descriptions of his various predicaments in the hospital are especially difficult to wrap your head around as to how absolutely horrible and difficult it must've been for him. There must be very few injuries worse than a neck injury.I am in awe of his bravery. What a powerful book! ★★★★★ from Goodreads This bio is full of the gritty truthabout a tragic accident that happened to an ordinary football loving Texas teen. It is a book that will change the reader. ★★★★★ Verified Purchase From the Author At first glance of the book cover, one might assume it's primarily a book regarding football, and you would be partially right. A goal of mine in writing my story is the reader comes away in knowing how meaningful human connections shape our lives. Forty years is a long time to revisit such a profound time in my life. The accident and subsequent years were not exactly how I planned it. Nevertheless, it's brought many beautiful surprises along the way. I hope you, the reader, will come away inspired to be the best you, follow your dreams and foster those human connections that enrich our lives."Life is a moment by moment thing; it's neither scripted nor promised.
