About Wayland Chiles Manzano Chile Collection
Wayland Chiles is a small family seed farm located in Florida. All of the seeds sold are grown in the USA. The Manzano (mahn zah noh) originates in South America and is found growing on the Andean mountain slopes. It is among the oldest of domesticated chilies and has been cultivated for thousands of years. If protected from the frost this chili can live for over 15 years and can be trellised like a grape vine. This is one of my favorite chilies for fresh salsa. This is the only species of chili that has black seeds. This includes 10 seeds each of all three manzano varieties, Orange, Red and Yellow.
