About Programming Guide For The Hewlett Packard HP 12CP

Hopefully, this book will add to the currently available documentation for programming the extremely popular HP 12CP financial calculator. The HP 12CP is the lowest priced programmable calculator using Reverse Polish Notation (RPN), about $40 as of May 2023. The calculator has 20 numerical storage registers and a 400 step programming memory. The calculator is targeted to the financial sector and has many built-in financial functions. However, this little book focuses exclusively on the calculator’s programming capabilities. Such knowledge lets you create programs which incorporate calculations specific to your financial data. The material and examples cover: programming and working with RPN; working with the four register stack; saving and running multiple programs in the single program memory; and ’communicating’ with your custom programs. While the book focuses on RPN mode, much of the material also applies to algebraic mode (ALG), as the mechanics are basically the same. Note: This book does not cover the use of the HP 12CP financial applications. The specifics of these applications are well covered elsewhere, including documents available free online. (See ‘Links to Additional HP 12 CP Documentation’ in the Appendix.)
