This is a rare November 13th, 1939 broadside (single page playbill) from the two-week, Pre-Broadway tryout of the COLE PORTER musical comedy "DU BARRY WAS A LADY" at the Shubert Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. (The production would open December 6th, 1939 at the Forty-Sixth Street Theatre in New York City and run for 408 performances.) ..... The musical starred the legendary ETHEL MERMAN and BERT LAHR and featured BETTY GRABLE (in her Broadway debut), PHIL REGAN (replaced out-of-town by RONALD GRAHAM), BENNY BAKER, HUGH CAMERON, WALTER ARMIN, CHARLES WALTERS, HAROLD CROMER, GERALDINE SPRECKELS, TITO RENALDO, DOUGLAS HAWKINS, PETER HOLLIDAY, ROBERT HERRING, CARL NICHOLAS, BETTY ALLEN, ANN GRAHAM, JANIS CARTER, ERENE REYNOLDS and MARGUERITE BENTON .....
