This Palmetto style 1575 carbon compression packing seal with a graphite coating protects pumps and valves from fluid leaks in high-speed, high-temperature applications. The interwoven braided packing seal is made of carbon polyacrylonitrile (PAN) continuous filament for high tensile strength and stiffness, thermal conductivity, and resistance to abrasive media and harsh chemicals. Carbon tolerates high temperatures and exhibits a low coefficient of friction for reduced wear on the shaft. The carbon fibers are coated with graphite to increase the transfer of frictional heat away from the shaft, permitting high shaft speeds and reducing the chance of leakage. This packing seal is compatible with media in the pH range of 0-14. It has a maximum pressure limit of 2,500 pounds per square inch (psi) in valves and 500 psi in pumps, and a shaft speed of 4,000 feet per minute (fpm). It operates to a maximum temperature of 650 degrees F (340 degrees C). Style 1575 is suitable for use with slurries found in industries such as pulp and paper, chemical, petrochemical, and mining, among others.Specifications Maximum temperature 650 degrees F (340 degrees C) pH range 0-14 Pressure limit in pumps 500 psi (35 bar) Pressure limit in valves 2,500 psi (172.5 bar) Shaft speed 4,000 fpm (20 m/s)Rope seals provide a pressure seal to help retain fluids and gases in a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. They have a round, square, or rectangular cross section, and come in various braided designs including braid-over-braid, braid-over-core, laminated, twisted, or interwoven. Rope seals can be manufactured from a single material or a combination of materials that suit specifi
