After sharpening, clean the knife with water or cloth, then dry it. How do I use Leather Strop? Leather Honing Strop - Apply the compound by rubbing it, place the blade on the leather, with light pressure push the blade up towards the top of the strop. Leather Razor Strop - Fix the front end on someplace, apply the compound by rubbing it, hold the other end with one hand, and rub the razor on it back and forth with putting your strength on the back of the razor. You can use a strop without any compound applied to it if you need only to remove blemishes. But, if you need to razor-sharp your knives, a compound will help you do it quicker.
