About Slot Machines: An Illustrated History Of America's

1983, oversize hardcover edition, Nevada Publications, Las Vegas, Nevada. Gorgeous, most impressive hardcover volume, 240 pages, 400 photos, 218 of them in full color. Also present are line drawings and maps. You have to go back to the 1890's for the birth of the 3-reel bell slot machine. By the time this country was in the Roaring 20's, these machines were everywhere and the golden age of slots lasted all the way to 1950, when federal legislation kicked in. This book is fabulous, great color, vintage b&w photos, line drawings, magazine ads, marvelous text. The author comes from a 3-generation Fey coin machine family. The Fey brothers have a saloon and restaurant in Reno, and their collection has been in newspapers, magazines and national TV. If you're talking about slot machines, the Fey Brothers know their stuff.
