About Lupifaro Jazz Alto Saxophone Reed

REEDS FOR JAZZ AND CONTEMPORARY STYLES Designed by Luca Cardinali and 100% made in France by Ets. Rigotti from the best cane in the world, Lupifaro Reeds are manufactured to offer a full, rich sound. THE PRODUCTION OF LUPIFARO REEDS The Var region in southern France is where our cane plants are grown and is the foundation of each Lupifaro reed. The microclimate of this region produces cane with the essential qualities that are fundamental to defining timbre and resistance in each reed. The cane is grown in rows to allow free movement of the plants in the wind which gives the barrel of the plant the right flexibility. Once harvested, the cane it is left to dry in the open air and then in the dark before being individually selected for their characteristics for each reed. The tubes are cut into four equal parts, depending upon the size and radius and chosen for the production of reeds for different instruments. After the selection, the tubes are divided into 4 pieces of cane are passed through cheesecloth to clean. The inner part of the barrel is milled to obtain a perfect plane. The process is performed in numerous stages to avoid "trauma" to the fibers. In the final stage of production, the reeds are placed in a machine which forms the tip and final shape and determines hardness and strength. The reed, at this point, is ready to meet the needs of the most demanding musicians.
