About Sassafras Superstone La Cloche Bread Baker With Red

Every bread baker strives to make a perfect loaf of bread. With the Superstone La Cloche, you can make bread that tastes just like that from a professional, artisan bakery. The natural unglazed interior produces a bread with a perfect texture – a light interior crumb surrounded by a crackly crust – and the domed shape promotes even, circular baking. As an added bonus, the base of the La Cloche can be used to make fantastic pies with a flaky crust and a perfectly- textured pizza crust, so it’s like getting two products in one! You won’t be disappointed with the Superstone La Cloche from Sassafras! As the late James Beard wrote, “The bread I have been baking in it is nothing short of sensational!” Don’t be fooled by imitators! USE AND CARE: Seasoning: Be sure to season the base before using for the first time. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Rinse the baker with water and wipe with sponge, then dry with a towel. Generously fill the base about ¾ of the way with vegetable or canola oil. Place the baker in a oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven with mitts then let it cool for 2-4 hours. Pour the cooled oil into a bowl for future use. Wipe off the excess oil with a dry cloth then use it within the next few days. Wipe the base with oil for the next 2-3 times before baking. Note that the stoneware will darken the more it is used. This is completely normal and means that you are getting a nice, non-stick surface. Cleaning: Cool baker to room temperature before cleaning. Never use soap on unglazed stoneware. Simply scrape off any remaining food particles and scrub under hot water. Towel or air dry. Do not put in the dishwasher. Thermal shock: As with all stoneware, do not expose the La Cloche to extremes in temperature. For instance, do not place a refrigerated dough into a preheated baker. Allow the dough to get to room temperature before placing it in the baker. Temperature: May be used in oven temperature up to 500°F
