Meet osmium, the bluest metal in the universe. And one of the rarest and most coveted (by collectors at least). Less than a ton of osmium is recovered annually as impurities - literally - from gold, platinum and copper mining. Most of that tiny output is routed straight to pharmaceutical companies where it's transformed into osmium tetroxide; a nasty, nasty chemical that can instantly blind the fool who takes too close a peek. The solid metal however is perfectly safe to handle, being a precious metal after all and, by definition, difficult to combine chemically with any other element. However, the feared osmium tetroxide is created from finely powdered Os so the metal should not be ground or crushed. Keep it solid and beautiful!
