About Shimano WH-MT620 29in Boost Wheelset

You started mountain biking going, "Shoot, shoot, shoot!" on tight banked turns, but now you're shredding the kind of mountain terrain that used to make your palms sweat. The WH-MT620 29in Boost Wheelset is Shimano's answer to the general call for a tubeless design that can handle all-mountain riding, but that's also lightweight and good value. It's what riders seeking the stiffness and capability of an aluminum wheel want when they're not looking to break the bank on upgrades. This 29in wheel accommodates the usual Boost standards for progressive trail bikes and, with a 34. 7mm rim width, these wheels are wide enough to allow for more robust rubber, which will allow for ample traction across everything from dirt trails to loose gravel. With this added rim width, there's an opportunity to push the envelope with plus-sized rubber, which will provide the ability to lower tire pressure and increase traction. The WH-MT620's stout and wide build will only benefit your riding when the trail turns to loose rubble and sharp descents. Micro Spline freehubs mean riders will also benefit from increased rigidity when riding over shifty and uneven surfaces. Micro Spline tech, which uses a 23-spline interface for Shimano's 11- and 12-speed XTR cassettes, was introduced by the Japanese manufacturer two years ago as a new hub standard. It has since trickled down to the more current 12-speed M8100 XT and M7100 SLX groupsets, and it's likely to be seen on many more groupsets in the future. As a component of the WH-MT620 wheelset, lightweight aluminum Micro Spline freehubs are featured alongside 24 straight-pull J-bend spokes laced to centerlock hubs for increased strength and durability.
