Although the blade does have substance, the short balance point makes the sword extremely responsive in its handling. The sword is appropriate for medium traditional targets. The Lion Dog is ideal for beginning to intermediate practitioners who seek a medium weight sword. The Katana includes a sword bag, certificate of authenticity, spare seppa, and mekugi. The blade of the katana has been constructed from through hardened T8 carbon steel. There is slight niku on the ha and a chu kissaki. The sword is capable of taking on medium traditional targets. The blade comes full tang and very sharp. The saya features a glossy black lacquered finish and bull horn koiguchi. The sageo is black chemical fiber with golden shitodome. The tsuba is blackened steel with a lion dog theme. The tsuka features two smoked bamboo mekugi. The ito is black alternating chemical fiber over white ray skin samegawa.
