Amazon.com This is a very fine, well-recorded collection of essential Grieg at a rock-bottom price. The Peer Gynt music is quite simply the finest "incidental" score ever written. Had Grieg been a modern composer, this would have been a film soundtrack, and it would have sold something like a billion copies by now. Grieg was always most comfortable working in short, lyrical forms; this music has retained its springlike freshness for over 120 years and shows no sign of going stale anytime soon. Here's a piece of trivia for you: the famous "Morning" scene from Peer Gynt, which everyone associates with some primal Scandinavian dawn, actually takes place in the Sahara desert! David Hurwitz
