About Chance In A Million

Product Description Recorded live in 1992, the disc captures Zero the way it was meant to be heard. The group undoubtedly is reminscent of Jerry Garcia's Legion of Mary, and many of the musicians either in this band or making guest appearances on this disc are long-time associates of both Garcia and the Grateful Dead. The list includes drummer Greg Anton, keyboardists Pete Sears and Nicky Hopkins, and bassists Bobby Vega and John Kahn. Robert Hunter wrote the lyrics, and Vince Welnick sits in for some serious jamming. The true leaders are saxophone player Martin Fierro who kicks some major-jamming-ass alongside the soaring, floating, Jerry-induced guitar of Steve Kimock. The title track hints at Touch of Grey, and Catalina hints at Foolish Heart. Yet, there's a lot more to Zero than just its Grateful Dead influences, and these songs have their own unique feel. ~John Metzger, Music Box Review "Zero's Chance in a Million"; voted #1 of the ten best records of the year (1994), (followed by The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and Eric Clapton); Zero's improvisational rock-jazz format intoxicates the the listener right from the first track and constantly ascends to ever satisfying plateaus." --Jim McGuin, Walla Walla, Washington Union Bulletin Zero is like a massive group of talented musicians who melt together, then apart, then back together any number of times during each song...building a song into a living organism that writhes and growls and hammers its way around the stage then flows downward, its life gradually ending with a fade....free-flowing electric rockin jazz/blues and something extra. --Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Review. Zero plays a club date like it's a performance-art happening. The band assembles, kind-of, on stage; a guitar plays a riff, the keyboard produces some chords, the bass starts a beat with authority, the drummer creates a rhythm on top; Fierro comes in-sax screaming-from outer space, and suddenly (it comes as a real surprise) the whole band is romping through an obviously predetermined chart. --Phil Elwood, San Francisco Examiner About the Artist Zero! Zero has performed around the country for over 15 years, playing some of the best improvisional rock ever. Artosts that have performed with Zero include Jerry Garcia, Micky Hart, Merl Saunders, Jorma Koekanan, and many others
