About Big Stories For Little Ones

Product Description Rain For Roots is a collective of songwriters, young mothers and friends who came together around a single vision to make new scripture songs for children. Inspired by traditional folk melodies, this band of four set out to make new, timeless songs about the old gospel Story. This album, Big Stories for Little Ones, is based on the poems of best-selling children's author, Sally Lloyd-Jones. Review Rain for Roots is four young musicians from the Nashville area who all have their own successful careers as singer-songwriters and are also mothers of young children. Sandra McCracken, Katy Bowser, Ellie Holcomb, and Flo Paris have joined together to create a wonderful album of songs that speak the truth of God's Word to children. Aside from the delightful music on this album no surprise, given the quality of the artists involved the lyrics are both simple and theologically strong. Each of the songs places the focus clearly on God's work and not what biblical heroes did or how we ought to behave. It was God who took care of baby Moses, God who helped David fight the giant, and God who will help a little child like you. Although this album is aimed at children it is not childish. The melodies are strong, but not complex, and the arrangements are simple enough to help us attend to the lyrics. This is a great example of how to make a high-quality album for children. --Robert J. Keeley, The Banner I am so excited to listen to Rain for Roots with my grandchildren! The quality of art I set before them really matters to me, and this is music of the highest quality--lyrics that beautifully tell the stories of the truest truths of the universe, and wonderfully strong, memorable, gorgeously sung and produced melodies. I am a huge fan of the Rain For Roots women and grateful for their collaboration in creating this excellent, artful, tender, and joy-filled music. --Andi Ashworth, Editor-in-Chief, Art House America blog Like the Jesus Storybook Bible, this record keeps the spotlight on God through each narrative. Sweetly sung and played, this exploration of who God is a priceless beginning to a lifelong question. --Sara Groves
